1. Introduction
Welcome to Lafe. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Lafe mobile and watch applications, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). The Service is operated by LOTUS APP LIMITED, trading as Lafe, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16061353, with its registered office at 58 Canrobert Street, London, United Kingdom, E2 6PX. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years of age to use Lafe. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have obtained parental or guardian consent to use the Service.
3. Account Registration
To use certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.
- Maintain the security of your account credentials.
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account.
- Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account.
6. Injury Information & Workout Modifications
Not a Medical or Diagnostic Service
The injury-related features described below are provided for informational and educational purposes only. They do not constitute medical advice, physiotherapy, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for the evaluation and management of injuries.
Lafe includes features that allow you to report injuries and receive adjusted workout guidance. By using these features, you understand and agree to the following:
6.1 Injury Reporting & Informational Labels
- Injury assessments are based entirely on information you provide through the app. The accuracy and usefulness of any output depends on what you share.
- The Service may generate informational labels (such as "likely diagnosis" or severity categories like "mild," "moderate," or "severe") to help organise and categorise your self-reported injury information. These labels are not clinical diagnoses. They are automated categorisations used to select appropriate general guidance, and they should not be treated as a professional medical opinion.
- Only a qualified healthcare professional can provide a clinical diagnosis. You should not rely on any label or categorisation from the Service as a substitute for professional evaluation.
6.2 Workout Modifications
- Based on your reported injuries, the Service may automatically adjust your workout recommendations. These adjustments may include substituting activities, reducing training volume or intensity, adding rest days, or listing movements to avoid.
- These modifications are based on general sport science principles and publicly available exercise guidelines. They are not individualised clinical treatment plans and do not account for your complete medical history, imaging, or clinical examination findings.
- You are solely responsible for determining whether any modified workout is safe and appropriate for your specific condition. When in doubt, consult a healthcare professional before proceeding.
6.3 Safety Alerts
- The Service may alert you to symptoms that are commonly associated with conditions requiring medical attention (for example, joint instability, numbness, or sudden swelling). These alerts are informational only.
- Safety alerts do not constitute medical triage, screening, or emergency care. They are not a replacement for calling emergency services or visiting a healthcare provider.
- If you experience any symptom that concerns you, seek professional medical attention immediately, regardless of whether the app has flagged it.
6.4 Return-to-Training Guidance
- The Service may provide general guidance on returning to training after an injury, including suggested timelines and progression criteria.
- This guidance is based on general sport science literature and does not replace an individualised rehabilitation programme from a qualified physiotherapist, sports medicine physician, or other healthcare provider.
- You must obtain medical clearance from a qualified healthcare professional before returning to training after any significant injury, including (but not limited to) concussions, stress fractures, post-surgical recovery, and any injury involving red flag symptoms.
6.5 Your Responsibilities
- You accept full responsibility for any decisions you make based on injury-related information or workout modifications provided by the Service.
- You agree that the injury features are intended to complement, not replace, professional medical assessment and care.
- You agree to provide accurate and complete information when reporting injuries, and to update the app if your condition changes.
- You agree to stop any activity immediately if you experience pain, discomfort, or any symptom that worsens during exercise, and to seek medical advice before continuing.
7. AI Coaching
Lafe uses artificial intelligence to provide personalised fitness coaching and workout recommendations. You understand that:
- AI-generated recommendations are based on the data you provide and may not account for all individual circumstances, including medical conditions, medications, or other factors that could affect your health and safety.
- AI coaching is not a substitute for professional personal training, physiotherapy, sports medicine, or medical advice.
- When the AI provides information about injuries, recovery, or health-related topics, this information is general and educational. It does not constitute a professional opinion or clinical guidance.
- The quality of recommendations depends on the accuracy of data from your connected devices and the information you provide.
- We continuously improve our AI systems, and recommendations may evolve over time.
- As part of the coaching experience, the AI automatically extracts and retains key facts from your conversations, workout reflections, and onboarding data (such as injuries, schedule constraints, and preferences). This is a core feature of the Service and enables personalised coaching across sessions. You may view and delete individual memories or all memories at any time in the app settings.
8. Assumption of Risk
Physical exercise carries inherent risks, including the risk of injury, illness, or, in rare cases, death. By using the Service, you acknowledge and voluntarily assume these risks.
In particular, you acknowledge that:
- Any exercise programme involves a risk of injury. This risk may be higher if you have pre-existing injuries, medical conditions, or physical limitations.
- The Service provides general fitness guidance and is not a substitute for professional supervision during exercise.
- You are responsible for exercising within your own abilities, listening to your body, and stopping any activity that causes pain or discomfort.
- You should consult a physician or qualified healthcare provider before beginning any fitness programme, particularly if you are pregnant, have cardiovascular conditions, musculoskeletal injuries, or any other health concern.
Nothing in this section seeks to limit or exclude liability for death or personal injury resulting from our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
9. User Conduct
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts.
- Upload false, misleading, or fraudulent information.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers connected to the Service.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service.
- Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the Service without our permission.
10. User Content
You may upload content to the Service, such as profile photos or workout verification images. By uploading content, you:
- Retain ownership of your content.
- Grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, process, and display your content only as needed to operate, secure, improve, and promote the features you choose to use. This licence ends when the content or account is deleted, except for lawful retention and backup periods.
- Confirm that your content does not violate any third-party rights or applicable laws.
10A. Social Features & Data Visibility
Lafe includes a social feed where you can view other users' training activity and interact through likes and comments. By participating in the social feed, you acknowledge and agree to the following.
a) Data Visible on the Social Feed
When your social feed profile is active, the following data is visible to other Lafe users on the weekly feed:
- Your display name and profile photo.
- Your weekly training activities, including: sport type, activity title, duration, distance, pace, elevation gain, average heart rate, maximum heart rate, and calories for each activity.
- Your weekly training load (current load, target, and percentage of target achieved).
- Your active training goal title, target date, and weeks remaining.
- Captions you add to activities (short text).
- Photos you upload to activities (up to five per activity).
- Likes and comments you give or receive.
b) Data Visible When Viewing an Activity
When you tap on an activity in the feed, additional detail is visible:
- A route map (if the activity was recorded with GPS).
- Heart rate zone breakdown.
- Step count (if recorded by your device).
- Cadence, maximum speed, and elevation loss.
- Training load for the activity.
- Activity notes or description.
- Running dynamics (stride length, ground contact time, vertical oscillation) and training effect data, when recorded by your device.
- For gym sessions: exercises performed, muscle groups, and total volume load.
c) Data Visible on Your Profile Summary
When another user taps your profile on the feed, they can additionally see:
- Your fitness score (Chronic Training Load), with a descriptive label.
- Your recent training load (Acute Training Load).
- Your recovery score (0 to 100) and recovery category.
- A chart of your fitness and recovery trends over the past 16 weeks.
- Your weekly goals progress (daily targets met) and current streak.
- Your performance baselines (such as pace thresholds and heart rate zones), when available.
d) What Other Users Cannot See
Other users cannot access your raw health data. This includes heart rate recordings, heart rate variability (HRV), sleep stages, resting heart rate, or any data synced from your wearable device that is not listed above.
e) How These Scores Are Calculated
Training load, fitness, and recovery scores are derived from your wearable data and workout history using general sport science formulas (such as the Banister impulse-response model). They are approximate, non-clinical indicators intended for motivation and self-tracking. They are not medical assessments, diagnoses, or health evaluations. You should not use another user's displayed metrics to make assumptions about their health, fitness level, or physical capabilities.
f) How to Control Your Visibility
You can turn off your visibility on the social feed at any time using the "Visible on Feed" toggle in Settings > Social. When turned off, your training data, profile summary, activities, and photos will not appear to other users on the feed. Turning this off does not delete any data. You can turn it back on at any time to rejoin the feed.
g) User Content and Community Guidelines
Comments, photos, and other content you share on the social feed are subject to our Community Guidelines. You may report content that violates these guidelines using the in-app report feature. Content that violates the guidelines may be removed, and repeated violations may result in restrictions on your account.
11. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, features, content, and underlying technology, is owned by LOTUS APP LIMITED or its licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on our Service except as applicable law permits or with our express written permission.
12. Third-Party Services
Lafe may integrate with services such as Apple Health, Health Connect, Garmin Connect, WHOOP, Strava, Wahoo, Oura, Polar, and Samsung Health. Your use of an integration is also subject to that provider's terms and privacy policy. We do not control third-party availability or the accuracy of data they provide. You can disconnect an integration, but the provider may require you to revoke access in its own settings as well.
15. Your Responsibility
You are responsible for your lawful use of the Service, the accuracy of information you provide, and content you upload or share. If your breach of these Terms or unlawful conduct causes us loss, you may be responsible for that loss to the extent provided by applicable law. This section does not make you responsible for our acts, omissions, or legal obligations.
16. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the Service, law, security, or our business. We will post the new date above and give reasonable advance notice in the app or by email when a change materially affects you, unless an urgent legal or security change requires faster action. Changes apply prospectively. If you do not agree, you may stop using the Service and cancel your subscription before the change takes effect.
